Tumbleweed Southwest Grill is a chain restaurant located in Louisville, Kentucky that was originated in New Albany, Indiana. Tumbleweed Southwest Grill offers Southwest-style foods. The first restaurant was opened in 1975 in New Albany, Indiana.   In 1978 Linda would utilize her parents’ Hillside Manor restaurant and bar to turn it into a Tumbleweed. This location in Louisville became the flagship for the restaurant chain. The restaurant expanded to locations across the river and now operates over 60 locations restaurants in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin,company-owned and franchise locations.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Chef: This person has the primary duty to prepare and cook foods according to the menu ordered by the customer while puttiing into consideration the company’s standards. The chef hands on in exciting high volume kitchens and assist in establishing and enforcing food specifications, portion control, recipes and sanitation; control food and labor costs.   The average wage can start at around $8 per hour.

Prep Cook: The position is in charge to prepare/cook food for guests. He/She is to ensure that all equipment, utensils and working areas are maintained for cleanliness; coordinate prep amounts with managers, follow recipe instructions, use checklists and prep sheets, and he is also responsible for following safe food handling guidelines.   The average wage can start at around $8 per hour.

Busser: This position takes charge in the dining room and so he must have a dining room awareness and must ensure overall guest satisfaction.   The average wage can start at around $8 per hour.

Restaurant General Manager: This position oversees that the restaurant operations and must assure that all activities in the restaurant are efficiently and profitably done for the attainment of company goals. He/She must to plan, direct and must coordinate a variety of activities of the restaurants. The manager is responsible for the business performance of their restaurant, maintaining high standards of food, service, and health and safety. He/She has to spearhead strategic planning, shift pattern organization and day-to-day management activities.   The average wage can start at around $13 per hour.
