History of Taco Mayo

It was in the year 1978 when the first Taco Mayo was opened in Norman, Oklahoma, a bustling university town. It was named Taco Mayo since the menus featured Tex-Mex food and the month was May. The owners of this new venture were well versed in the operations of other successful Mexican fast-food restaurants.

By 1980 Taco Mayo had expanded into franchising and it has grown from a single store into a regional operation of company and franchise locations in several states with the number of restaurants growing each month.

Job Description/Wage Average

Shift Lead: This position takes the responsibility of solving problems, seeking help when needed and helping and guiding others. Specifically, the duties and responsibilities are to ensure that the Team Members complete all assigned duties and serve customers according to standards, offer quality food in a friendly manner. He/She is also to ensure that the restaurant is a safe place for Team Members to work and customers to visit.   The average wage starts at $9+ per hour.

Team Member Trainer Job: This position has the responsibilities like doing training for current employees, leading new product or procedure training, coaching and following up on training progress; communicating ideas and concerns to management team in a constructive manner; providing helpful, constructive feedback to help others meet job standards; acting as a role model and upholding Taco Bell standards; making sure the training activities are according to the restaurant training plans.   The average wage starts at $9+ per hour.

Restaurant General Manager: As restaurant manager, the person takes charge in the operation of the entire restaurant. He/She works in building a strong team who will offer the customers with great foods and a friendly atmosphere. Other duties and responsibilities are to hire and develop Team Members and Shift Leads, conduct new hire orientation and design the training plan r newly hired employees; address performance issues and managing the restaurant budget and financial plans.   The average wage starts at $12+ per hour.

Cashier : This person has the responsibility of providing friendly, prompt and accurate service to customers as; greeting customers in the restaurant, taking and ringing up orders, handling payment from customers.     You’re going to also assist with any problems that the customer may have with an order.   The average wage starts at $9+ per hour.

Food Prep: This position is in charge in preparing and storing food ingredients, assembling food and beverage orders, checking to make sure they’re correct, package products, and maintaining a clean, safe work and dining environment.   The average wage starts at $9+ per hour.
