Southwest Airlines Job Application

History of Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines Co., the model for budget upstarts universally, has become the biggest domestic airline in the United States, by number of passengers carried. Over 70 million passengers fly Southwest Airlines each year to about 60 destinations around the nation. Passengers have found that Southwest’s rock bottom pricing generates almost a latest form of transportation, more in opposition with the automobile than other airlines. They are enthusiastic to forsake in-flight meals, baggage transfers, and other traditional frills for cheaply amenable wings.

The company flies only Boeing 737s, to shorten maintenance and training, and employee productivity is soaring. Planes are turned around for their next flight in just 15 minutes, one-third the industry standard. Though the airline has improved its salaries and taken on other features of a traditional airline, such as its first codeshare arrangement, Southwest stays a one of a kind in the industry.
