History of Savemart

Save Mart Supermarkets is an even superior wheel in the California grocery business now that it has doubled in size as an effect of its attainment of about 130 Albertsons supermarkets in Northern California and Nevada. A sponsor of the NASCAR Toyota and Save Mart 350, the company now operates about 245 grocery stores in Northern and Central California and Nevada about half of the locations house in-store pharmacies. Job Description/Average Wage

Grocery Clerks: The candidate will offer fast, friendly customer service as they ring each customer’s purchases using computerized cash registers. They also stock shelves and assist customers. Service duties include suggestive selling, locating items, checking product availability, bagging groceries.   The starting salary for this position is $10.65 per hour.

Service Clerks / Courtesy Clerks: Bag groceries and help customers to their cars. They also gather shopping carts from parking lots, perform clean-ups and price checks, return merchandise to its proper place on the shelves, and perform other miscellaneous duties.   The average wage for this job is $9.10 a hour.

Produce Clerks: Work with all manufacture items and, in some stores, garden operations. Freshness and excellence are trademarks in this service area. This job naturally includes merchandising, suggestive selling, stocking, and ordering within the department.   This job pays an average of $9.55 a hour.

Bakery Clerks / Bakery Sales Clerks : Bakery Clerks work in the bakery department, preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising cakes, pies, rolls, muffins, breads and other baked goods. They notify customers about their bakery products and services and often ask customers to undertake samples of bakery products as a way to augment sales. They work with equipment like ovens, proffers and frequently use store intercoms to announce promotions and weekly specials.   This job pays an average of around $11.60 a hour.

Meat Cutters: Cuts and trims meat to size for show or else as ordered by customer, using hand tools and power equipment, such as grinder, cubing machine, and power saw. Cleans and cuts fish and poultry. May shape, lace, and tie meat cuts by hand, using boning knife, skewer, and twine to form roasts. He/She may place meat in containers to be wrapped by other workers; may place meat on trays in display counter; clean work area; drop off meat from delivery truck and pile up meat into refrigerator.     The hourly salary to this position is $12.38/hr.

Meat and Seafood Clerks: Support the meat and seafood departments in packaging product, ensure product freshness, proper sanitation, merchandising, and pricing. He/She will be offering value customer service is vital to the success of these departments.   This position offers an hourly wage of $10.06.
