History of Saladworks

Saladworks, LLC is a restaurant franchise in the United States that sells made to order entrée salads, wraps, soups, and sandwiches. Saladworks restaurants are classified as fast casual and the company markets its menu as a healthy substitute to other fast food fare. The franchise presently operates 100 restaurant locations in 11 states and has been positively ranked in several industry publications, including QSR magazine, entrepreneur magazine, and franchise times.

Saladworks was established in 1986 by John Scardapane, the company’s recent CEO. The primary Saladworks opened in the Cherry Hill Mall in Southern New Jersey, the achievement of which inspired the opening of 12 additional restaurant locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania in subsequent years.

Saladworks saw important expansion after it began franchising in 2001, and by 2007 it had 88 locations in eight states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Florida, and Illinois. Job Description/Average Wage

Salad Chef:   This person is responsible in maintaining the salad store and in preparing foods according to the standards of the restaurant as well customer preferences.   He/She needs to adhere to the standards of proper stocking, cleaning, freshness, and presentation of the salad.

Restaurant Manager: This position is the key person of the restaurant. He/She is the one who oversees the entire operation of the store. He/She has to ensure that everyone works to attain the goals of the company as well as to maintain company standards. He/She trains and hires employees too; engage in strategic planning; and must ensure that restaurant products and services are in the highest quality level standards.

Cook: The cook prepares the food according to company standards, follows recipes, upholds kitchen standards and should ensure that foods are prepared properly and the food preparation area is cleaned and sanitized.

Purchasing Agent: This person is responsible in coordinating the activities involved with procuring goods and services, like raw materials, equipment, supplies, for the restaurant use. Primarily, he is to contact the vendors and obtain purchasing information like price, availability, and delivery schedule; choose products to buy; estimate the value of the products based on the market price; and perform other duties related to the purchase of goods.

Legal Assistant: The main legal assistant responsibilities are as follows. He/she researches old cases, investigates facts related to current case, prepares legal documents and provides suggestions related to current proceedings. A legal assistant is not allowed to provide legal advice to the clients. A legal assistant has to review the case records, gather essential data and update the case progress. Depending upon the study and investigation of the cases, he/she gives oral presentations and also arranges case reports. Given below is a list of legal assistant duties.

  • Supervises legal volumes and makes sure that the law library is up-to-date.
  • Informs legal publications and works for up-gradation of the law library.
  • Arranges letters for yearly audits.

Legal Administrator: The administrator reports frankly to the managing partner as needed. He/she will work openly with the managing partner on asset acquisitions, insurance renewals, computer upgrades, lease negotiations and any personnel issues that cannot be resolved by the administrator. The person must be extremely organized, efficient and able to professionally handle human resource issues. This includes hiring and dismissing support staff, supervising, evaluating work distribution, maintaining personnel records including salary and benefits administration, coordinating vacation schedules to keep work consistency in the office and maintaining payroll records. The administrator is responsible for the supervision of all bookkeeping matters. The average wage for this job is around $42,000 — $46,000 a year.

Cashier: A Cashier is accountable for maintaining outstanding customer service as per Company standards, processing sales rapidly, precisely and competently, cash register operations and safeguarding company assets. Other tasks and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Make sure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly atmosphere, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service.
