Port of subs was first opened in 1972 in Sparks, Nevada called the “Sub Shop”. It was later purchased by John Larsen, a Public Accountant later bought the business in 1975 and changed the name into” Port of Subs”. In 1985, with the help of Francorp, the nation’s largest franchise consulting firm, the company began franchising. At present, Port of Subs has over 150 units open in seven Western states.

Port of Subs also offers a breakfast sandwich, hot sandwiches, fresh salads, chips, desserts and a various beverages choices. Entrepreneur Magazines “Franchise 500” and Restaurants and Institutions “Top 400” have recognized Port of Subs as one of the top franchising opportunities. Port of Subs is a member of the International Franchise Association.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Restaurant Crew: This person is responsible in taking orders of the customers and serving the orders according to customer preferences and company standards. He/She must be knowledgeable about the products offered by the company in order to respond customer inquiries promptly and accurately.   The average wage starts at $8 per hour.

Restaurant Manager: The restaurant manager is responsible in managing, planning, and directing the restaurant operations. He/She is also responsible in hiring and training employees; and in   ensuring that employees are performing their tasks according to company standards and goals.   The average wage starts at $12 per hour.

Cashier: This position is responsible in receiving the customers’ payment for the orders; he/she is also responsible in attending to the customer’s needs and may also answer customer inquiries.   The average wage starts at $8 per hour.

Cook: This person prepares the dishes of the restaurant according to the company standards and based on customer preferences. He/She makes sure that food are prepared and served in clean and sanitized areas. He has to ensure even cooking, while seeing to it that foods are cooked according to the recipe and that foods are cooked sufficiently; estimate food consumptions and other duties and responsibilities assigned to him.   The average wage starts at $8 per hour.
