History of McCormick & Schmick’s

McCormick and Scmicks is one of the brainchildren formed by Bill McCormick and Doug Schmick when they teamed up in 1976. They have established more than 80 restaurants and the catering operations were throughout the United States.

McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake’s Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. Then the restaurant turned into several locations now operating several locations with thousands of employees and such quality services remained for more than 35 years already.

Job Description/Wage Averages

General Manager: The general manager supervises the entire restaurant operations and activities. This person is the key personnel of the restaurant, who must communicate with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand request, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information. He/She must also posses strong knowledge of front and back of the house operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques and guest interaction. He/She must have the ability to walk, stand and/or bend continuously to perform essential job functions and to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.

Sous Chef: The duties of the Sous Chef include: Exhibit working knowledge of food cost, best practices (line checks), and purchasing, i.e. produce, seafood, etc.; supervise kitchen personnel under the direction of the chef; ensure food items are prepared according to our standards of quality, consistency and time lines; maintain sanitation procedures and organization of work area adhering to all OSHA regulations; meet all health department standards for safe food handling; operate equipment safely determined by position and OSHA regulations; purchase various food products as par levels dictate; maintain food storage, receiving, rotating & stocking as par levels dictate; exhibit working knowledge of scheduling.

PC Network Support/Help Desk: This position is a very important component of our customer service oriented IT organization.   This position performs key triage functions in addition to addressing myriad Tier 1 type issues that occur both locally at our corporate office and at our many restaurant locations and Operations staff located across North America.   General areas of responsibility include telephones, networks, applications, hardware and peripherals and account maintenance.

Server: This person will attend to guest needs; receives orders and delivers the orders accordingly. He/She must to respond to different inquiries of the customers and may also suggest menus. He/She must process bills accurately or work with the cashier in calculating checks.
