Loblaw Job Application

History of Loblaw

In 1919, the first Loblaw Groceterias store opens in Toronto. It opened as new self-serve, cash-and-carry concept of grocery retailing which became a big hit with customers, who take advantage of quality goods at lower prices. Within a decade, the Loblaw chain expands to more than 70 stores in Ontario alone; then to Chicago, Illinois.

In 1933, Loblaw introduced its new “market stores,” with full-service meat and produce departments and in succeeding years, more lines of market stores are opened. Today, the company has more than 5,000 private label products that provide customers with healthy, organic, environmentally friendly and high-value alternatives.
