History of King Soopers

King Soopers is a grocery store chain with an important presence in the state of Colorado on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. The stores are situated along the Front Range from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Pueblo, Colorado. There are also a small number of locations in the foothills west of Denver and Colorado Springs. The store is named for its founder, Lloyd J. King. In 1947, Lloyd King opened the primary King Soopers store in Arvada, Colorado.
