Hy-Vee was founded on 1930 in Beaconsfield, Iowa and its current headquarters is located in West Des Moines, Iowa. This company is an employee-owned chain of supermarket and retail grocery. Its name is a combination of the last names of its 2 founders namely: Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg.

In the year 2010, it has 207 supermarkets, 24 drugstores, 17 clinic pharmacies and 1 heartland pantry. Its largest is more than 100, 000 square feet of retail supermarket in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As of 2009, its annual revenue was $6.4 billion with more than 55, 000 employees worldwide.

Store Manager: You are responsible in making the store organized and in order at all times and will monitor the level of stock, facilities, supplies and inventory updates. You will also make sure that the customers are receiving the best attention and access to the important items in the store. The average salary for this position is $54,349 a year.

Manager: You are responsible to manage and direct all operations in the company and will create rules and policies that are applicable for the store. You will also take charge of the daily activities of the employees and will make an effective plan on how to make use of the available materials and human resources appropriately. The average wage for this job is $44,855 a year.

Assistant Manager: You will assist the manager in doing his task and will take over to simpler works that you can do independently. You can hire and terminate employees and make a schedule of works for the staff. You can also give final sales transactions. The average wage for this job $31,860 a year.

Cashier: You are going to make money-based transactions with the customers of the company and process sales accurately. You will also safeguard the properties and assets of the store and do inventories from time to time in order to make sure that you are receiving and giving out money accurately. The average wage for this job is $7.54 per hour.

Store Associate: You have a wide array of responsibilities in the store. Generally, you will be serving the customers with their needs and answer their concerns if necessary by proving them with a friendly and courteous approach. You will also keep the store in order and make it look clean and presentable at all times by performing general cleaning of the stocks and facilities. The average wage for this job is $19, 000 to $21, 000 a year.

    • I worked part-time at the Clinton Store for 5 years after retiring from my life’s work in the Inter-modal Transportation & Warehousing business. I last worked until the spring of 2016.
      With the lack of any increases in Social Security or anywhere else, I am interested in working part-time again. I worked annually in the Lawn & Garden Center, stocked pre-packaged meats & cheeses in the Meat Department, worked in the gas station and each Wednesday, pumped gas for the disabled and elderly. I am still able and healthy. Does anyone know if they do rehires?
