In 1967, Golfsmith started up their first store by Carl Paul.   While his interest was repairing golf clubs, he wanted to start up a shop that would specialize in this.     Today, they are still repairing, as well as selling golf clubs by many brands such as Nike, and more.   You can find Golfsmith on the NASDAQ under the symbol, “GOLF.”


Hours of Operation:   Mon-Fri: 9:30am-7:30pm; Sat: 9:00am-8:00pm; Sun: 11:00am-6:00pm

Job Description / Average Wage

Associate: With this position, you’re going to help stock shelves, assist customers, as well as make sure the customers are happy with their purchase.   In your downtime, you may be asked to clean up your area, as well as make sure that everything is in it’s right location.   The average wage is $8 to $10 a hour.

Club Fitter: You’re going to help customize clubs, fit them to size, as well as assist customers with any issues that they may have with their golf clubs.   You will also answer any question for a customer that comes into the store inquiring about the services.   This job pays anywhere from$9 to $11 a hour.

Cashier: You will run the cash register up front.   You will ring up customers, as well as help them with any questions they may have about their purchase.   In your downtime, you will be asked to restock bags, clean your area and more.   The average pay is $8 to $11 a hour.

Assistant Manager:   The assistant manager is going to help the main manager with opening the store, closing it as well as assisting with paperwork.   Similar to the manager’s duty, the assistant will make sure that the store is running according to plan.   The average assistant manager salary starts at $10 per hour.

Manager:   Running the whole store, you’re going to be in charge of following company policy.   You’re going to hire, fire as well as make sure that employees are running at full speed.   You’re going to also assist any employee with any job that they need help with.   The average manager job can start at $13 per hour and go up from there.   Most managers are going to be on a salary basis.

Interview Tips

The Golfsmith interview processes center on skills assessment, personality test, and two series of interviews conducted by the store manager or an assistant manager. Interview questions will be about work history, relevant skills, interest in the position, and the attitude towards work.
