Job Description/Wage Averages

Assembler: An Assembler completes and assembles food items on upright carts and airline equipment, including tray setups. Tray setups must follow airline specifications and usually include tray, paper tray liner, cup, plates, dessert, salad, snacks, bread, butter, condiments, and eating utensils.

Cook (Cook I): Cook I is responsible for preparing and cooking various food items according to recipes, and for observing and enforcing strict requirements with regard to food safety. The job includes sautéing, poaching, baking, grilling, and sauce preparation, as well as working with broilers, fryers, grills, ovens and stove-top cooking.

Assistant Cook (Cook II): Cook II is responsible for the preparation of food, including chopping, slicing, breading, stuffing, and assembling meals according to customer specifications.

Checker/Quality Assurance Coordinator: The Checker ensures that the quality and quantity of meals provided is in accordance with customer requirements and that any order changes have been fulfilled.

Dishwasher: The Dishwasher is responsible for separating washable items (trays, bowls, plates, cups, glasses, silverware, etc.) and placing them on the dishwasher conveyor belt to be washed.

Driver (CSR): The Driver is responsible for loading galley equipment onto a truck, driving the truck to various types of aircraft, and loading the equipment. All activities must be accomplished according to customer guidelines and while adhering to safety regulations. The Driver interacts with the airline representatives at the aircraft, therefore must be customer service oriented.

Driver Helper (CSA): The Driver Helper is responsible for loading equipment onto trucks; guiding the driver to various types of aircraft; and moving equipment from the truck to the aircraft galley. All activities must be accomplished according to customer guidelines and while adhering to safety regulations. The Driver Helper may interact with the airline representatives at the aircraft, therefore must be customer service oriented.

Equipment Set Up: Equipment Set Up requires assembling all the beverages, ice, condiments and non-food items such as cutlery, napkins, linens and dishware for a flight.

Food Prep (Hot or Cold): Food Prep workers prepare meals for various airlines by cutting, chopping, and wrapping dishes and meals and setting up the food carts for delivery.

Maintenance Technician : The Maintenance Technician provides general building and equipment maintenance and keeps up the preventive maintenance schedule for all machinery.

Porter: The Porter pushes equipment such as trolleys and food carriers with finished food products into coolers and other designated areas. Porters also sweep and mop work areas and remove trash to maintain cleanliness.

Storeroom Clerk : The Storeroom Clerk receives incoming shipments; stocks pantries and kitchens; fills requisitions; and counts products for accurate inventory.
