Foot Locker was owned by F.W. Woolworth as they bought out Kinney Shoe Company in 1963 operating it as a subsidiary. In the 1960s, Kinney branched into specialty shoe stores, including Stylco in 1967, Susie Casuals in 1968, and Foot Locker in 1974. Foot Locker once owned by the F.W. Woolworth stores became their own chain of athletic footwear retail outlet stores along with Kids Foot Locker, and Lady Foot Locker stores. The stores became well known for their employee’s wearing uniforms that resemble those of referees.

Job Description/ Average Wage

Sales Associate: The sales associate helps the customers find the right size shoes and the special one’s they need for whatever sports activity that they may be participating. The sales associates at the Kids Foot Locker help parents find the proper fitting shoes for their children.   Ladies Foot Locker helps ladies to find the right shoes and styles for that particular person’s need. They will then ring up the sale and take cash or charge for the product. The average wage for a sales associate is $7.33 an hour.

Associate: The associate makes sure that they are available to answer customer questions, keep shelves stocked, and find the proper shoe sizes.     You will also help in the backroom of the store where you will help unload merchandise, organize it, as well as make sure that the store remains clean and compliant.   The sales associate wage is $7.13 an hour.
