Clyde’s, offers an American food with an emphasis on fresh and seasonal ingredients.   Since its first operation, the restaurant serves classic American fare in a fine dining atmosphere.

It was in 1963 when Stuart Davidson opened Clyde’s of Georgetown.In 1970, Davidson and Laytham purchased the Old Ebbitt Grill, which originally opened in 1856.

The Clyde’s locations in Chevy Chase, Maryland, Georgetown, and Tysons Corner are three of the older, more upscale Clyde’s Restaurants, catering to a more affluent clientele. In particular the three landmark establishments: the Tomb’s, 1789, and F. Scott’s restaurants that Clyde’s purchased from the original founder, owner, and operator, Richard J. McCooey, in December 1985.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Servers: The people in this position are dealing with the restaurant guests; hence, they are expected to provide the clientele needs, provide our Guests with a clean, comfortable environment for their dining experience; ensure that every guest is thanked and invited to return and dine again.     The average wage starts at $3 per hour plus tips.

Host: The primary duty of this position is to greet and communicate to every guest, offer the guest with any assistance they may need and answer any questions they may have.   The average wage starts at $8 per hour.

Restaurant Manager:This is a key position that will ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant. He/She makes sure that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably and everybody is working for the attainment of company goals. He/She is the one who will plan for strategies, direct and must coordinate various activities of the restaurants. The manager is responsible for the business performance of their restaurant, maintaining high standards of food, service, and health and safety.   The average wage starts at $14 per hour.

Prep cook: This person will prepare/cook food for guests. In addition to his primary task, he will have to ensure that all equipment, utensils and working areas are maintained for cleanliness; coordinate prep amounts with managers, follow recipe instructions, use checklists and prep sheets, responsible for following safe food handling guidelines.   The average wage starts at $8 per hour.

Dishwasher: This person will make sure that all dishes, glasses, utensils and equipment are cleaned, sanitized and stored to maintain cleanliness.   The average wage starts at $8 per hour.
