Associated Food Stores, Inc. is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is a cooperative owned wholesaler to almost 600 supermarkets in eight regions.   It was organized in the year 1940 and since then, it constantly delivers groceries to various grocers. Donald P. Lloyd, persuaded 34 retailers to contribute $300 each to organize the Associated Food Stores.

Presently, the cooperative of the cooperative is manifested with hundreds of employed people and has been shipping over 750 truckloads of groceries every week.

Job Description/Salary Ranges

Store Manager: This position is in charge for the operation of a store’s grocery and general merchandise departments.   The person also serves as the planner or initiator of activities to be carried out in the store to ensure success of these departments. He/She must also ensure that the store meets the standards for profits, revenues and productivity and to maximize department sales and profits and ensure proper department merchandising and pricing procedures according to standards.

Freight Crew Supervisor: The person assigned in this position is responsible for all the aspects of stocking operations and supervises the activities of its team members.   He/She will be working closely with the Grocery Manager and assist him or her in accomplishing goals. He/She will also ensure customer confidence for the benefit of the company.

Bakery Manager: This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Bakery Department within his or her assigned store. Specifically, he will take charge in budgeting and operating procedures within the store, cake decorating and promoting a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly and professional methods of communicating people, maintaining  good working relationships with other department and work for improving sales.

Drivers: The drivers will take charge in delivering food product to the grocery stores and workdays vary according to delivery schedule; loading and unloading truckloads, and operating tractor trailers.

Cashier:   Working the front of the store, you’re going to be in charge of ringing up customers, taking coupons as well as making sure that the customer is satisfied with his/her purchase.   You will also assist with counting down your drawer and keeping the area clean.
