History of Target

Founded in 1902, Target has been giving customers exactly what they want, and that is low, great prices.  The Target stores eventually became one of the biggest divisions of the Dayton Hudson Corporation.  Target is the second largest discount retailer in the US, only following Walmart.

Job Description / Wage Averages

Sales Floor Team Leader: Your job is going to consist of running your department insuring that it’s kept clean, as well as assisting the customers with whatever problems they may have.  You’re going to find that Target stores are different, because they are going to train you for all jobs.  You expect to get paid anywhere from $7 to $10 a hour.

Executive Team Leader:  The executive team leader is going to be responsible for monitoring an entire department of the store.  He/she will help assign tasks as well as assist employees with any other problems that they man encounter.  On top of that, the team leader will be responsible for doing any tasks that the other employees are responsible for.  The average wage can range from $34,000 to as much as $100,000 per year.

Guest Services: You’re going to be in charge of handling returns, or any other questions related to previous purchases.  You may also be required to help with credit card application processing, sorting of returns, and more.  This job will pay anywhere from $7 to $10 a hour.

Cashier: Your sole duties will be to run and man the cash register.  You will ring up customers, accept coupons, as well as answer any questions that they may have.  You will also be responsible to make sure that every item it rung up in the cart.  The average starting wage for this position is anywhere from $7 to $10 a hour ranging on your location and experience.

Back Room Team Leader:  Working in the back of the store, this person will be responsible for unloading trucks that come on a weekly basis.  He/she will help unload trucks, help price items within the box as well as ensure that the boxes are stored in the appropriate area in the back of the store.  He/she will also assist with team members when they need help finding items.  The average wage can range from $8 to $13 a hour.

Overnight Back Room:  Unloading trucks during the after hours, this person will be responsible for doing back room duties, but during the night shift.  This person will also help assist stock and clean shelves when no customers are present in the store.  The average wage for this position is anywhere from $7 to $14 a hour.

Cart Attendant:  He/she will be responsible for ensuring the the parking lot is free from carts.  You’ll be responsible for collecting all carts that are left in the lot, bringing them back in, in a safe manner.  You’ll also assist other customers with any large orders that they may have.  In the downtime, other jobs such as cleaning and more can be done.  The average wage is anyhwere from $7 to $10 a hour.

Protection Specialist:  He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the store is ran in an effective manner.  Watching security cameras, this person will watch over both employees and customers to ensure that no fraud or theft happens.  If any type of fraud or theft is noted, the local authorities will be notified.  The average wage can range from $7 to $14 a hour.
