History of Starbucks

Starbucks, a company that started in the 1990′s is now a huge success – being the most popular coffeehouse company in the world.  Starbucks has 16,635 stores in 49 countries, including 11,068 in the United States!  This company continues to grow and sell its most popular items:  hot drinks, lattes, coffees, cold drinks, coffee beans, salads, hot and cold sandwiches, pastries and paninis.

Job Descriptions/Wage Averages

Barista: When a barista works at Starbucks they are the ones who take the orders and make what the customer wants whether it’s drinks or snacks.    You’re going to help run the cash register, clean the machines, as well as assist the customers with any questions that they may have.  If the particular shop as a drive thru, you may be asked to run that as well.  A job as a barista makes $7-$13 hourly.

Shift supervisor: Shift supervisors are in charge of creating the schedule most of the time and put people in charge of certain tasks throughout the day.  You want to make sure everything is running smoothly and make sure the floor is covered.  You’re going to answer to the main manager of the store if any problems do arise.   Working as a shift supervisor brings in $8-$13 hourly.

Store manager: The store manager is the one that is fully in charge.  You tell everyone what to do, including assistant managers, shift supervisors and everyone else below you.  You’re one that has a lot of responsibility and you want to make sure your store is running up to date with how it should be.  When you’re the store manager you have the opportunity to make $34k-$58k yearly.

Assistant store manager: You’re the one that will help out the store manager.  You’re the store managers second hand man and help him out with finances, up keeping the store and making sure everything is in place.    You will also help with opening and closing the store, assigning tasks and more.  Most assistant managers make $26k-$37k yearly.

District manager: District managers have the most responsibility.  You want to make sure you are checking on all the stores in the area and making sure they’re all up and running.  You also want to make sure the store managers are doing their job, the up keep of the stores are clean and they’re getting a good amount of people each day.  Working as a district manager you can make $64k-$90k yearly.
