History of Burger King

Burger King has been around for years and has also been known as “BK”.  This restaurant started in Jacksonville, FL in 1953 which was then known as “Insta-Burger King”.  When the year 2009 ended, it was reported that there were more than 12,000 restaurants in 73 different countries and United States made up for more than 66% of these!  Burger King is privately owned and operated and today has more than 37,000 employees that serve about 11.4 million customers each day!

Job Descriptions/Wage Averages

Cashier: When working as a cashier you will want to provide great customer service.  You’re the first person the customer sees so you want to make sure they are welcomed.  You start out by greeting them, taking their order, ringing up their order and by giving change.  Sometimes you will be giving them their food personally and sometimes you will have someone do this for you, depending on how busy it is.  The average hourly wage is $7-$12 per hour.

Assistant Manager: As an assistant manager, you will be in charge of the floor when your store manager isn’t around.  You will be assigning jobs for the day, helping out your employees when they need it and you will have full responsibility making sure everyone is doing their job properly.  The average salary is usually around $25k-$45k yearly.

Cook: As the cook you will be preparing and making the food.  This will cover everything from food prep in the morning to grilling hamburgers at the busiest hours of the day.  If you like to make food, this may be the job you will want to lean towards.  As a cook you will be making an average of $5-$10 hourly.

Fast Food Worker: Being a fast food worker really covers everything from cleaning the lobby to helping out in the drive thru.  There are several different jobs you will be doing over time and you will find that they are rather simple once you get the hang of it.  Some of these jobs are: cleaning, making food, cashier, drive thru, dishwasher, etc.  Fast food workers usually make $7-$8 per hour.

Store Manager: You’re going to be in charge of running the whole store, as well as answering to the franchise owner.  You’re going to help with hiring employees, managing tasks, as well as ensuring that the store is running at 100%.  You’re going to also help with various management paperwork, assisting customers and more.  The average wage is anywhere from $30,000 to $49,000 a year.
