Weis Markets, Inc. is one of the oldest and most gainful supermarket companies in the eastern United States. Based in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, the company manages 150 stores in six states. Broadly diversified, Weis owns and manages its own dairy, ice cream, and meat processing plants, its own fleet of trucks, and much of its own real estate, as well as Weis Food Service, a restaurant also institutional food supplier based in Northumberland, Pennsylvania. In addition, in 1993 Weis acquired an 80 percent share of SuperPetz, a pet supply business with 14 stores, with the anticipation that the number would double by 1997. Job Description and Average Wage

Assistant Store Manager: The position will offer leadership and direction in store operations by means of articulating the company’s tactical plan, initiates and implements actions to drive and accomplish the tactical plan and delegates responsibilities to execute training methods and merchandising techniques that will attain all company objectives. This promotes and accomplishes sales objectives throughout proper merchandising techniques and training of associates to make the store operations more efficient in order to meet changing customer prerequisites as well as the company’s business plans.

The annual salary for this position is around $40,000-$50,000.

Loss Prevention Investigator:This position will supervise and monitor all features of theft and shrink within the store setting and other elected areas. Candidates shall have working information of all security applications, cash systems and computer skills. The assigned person must be able to successfully correspond with the Store Management and associates on a number of topics, interview skill set, and be a team player within the general loss prevention program.

The hourly salary is $12-$13.

Store Manager: A store manager promotes effectual two-way communications with customers and all store associates, identifies areas needing development and develops programs and methods to grow customer goodwill, positive staff interaction and promote group work and high moral. This performs well-timed store meetings to discuss goals, accomplishments and alterations. The store manager assures the proper use and maintenance of all physical facilities and store equipment, supervises the stock and controls how company assets are used.

This job pays an average of $50,000 to $75,000 a year.

Bakery Manager: A bakery manager supervises department inventories by means of tracking weekly sales reports and orders products and supplies so as to meet customer prerequisites, develop department sales and the company’s gross income goals.
