History of The Limited

The Limited began by a girl named Bella Cabakoff who had emigrated with her parents from Russia to Columbus, Ohio. She worked for the Lazarus department store chain after spending over 20 years with Lazarus in 1951 she and her husband Harry Wexner opened a women’s clothing store named Leslie’s after their son. This was the training ground for the start up of the now store which is “The Limited.”

Leslie Wexner borrowed $5,000 from his aunt and $5,000 from the bank and opened a store in the Kings dale Shopping Center in Upper Arlington. This store focused on clothing for younger women, which was not like his parents’ general merchandise store. In 1964 Bella and Harry closed their stores to join their son in his venture. In the 1980’s they started a string of acquisitions that help them to add many brand name products to their store. They have an online ecommerce business plus many stores located inside of malls.

Job description/ Average wage

Sales Associate: Sales associates help customers while they are in the stores find the right clothes that are suited just for them. They work with the younger women and know what styles are being worn for the type of function that the younger lady would want to purchase a special piece of clothing. The average wage for a sales associate is $8.00 an hour.

Part-Time Sales Lead: The part-time sales lead person usually does the same function as the sales associate only they work on a part-time basis. They do customer care and make sure that their department is kept stocked with the new up-to-date modern clothes that are worn by the younger women. The average wage for a part-time sales lead person is usually about $8.00 an hour.

Manager: The store manager is responsible for the operations of the store in about all aspects of the business. They must make sure that the inventory is kept up-to-date, accounting department runs efficiently, employee’s are hired and trained properly, along with all other aspects of the operations of a large ladies clothing stores. The average wage for a store manager is $54,531 per year.
