History of Cheescake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory started out as a bakery in Los Angeles, California in 1971. Later the founder David M. Overton developed the Cheesecake Factory into a restaurant. Today there are over 148 restaurants in over 34 states with the name Cheesecake Factory. The company now operates 13 restaurants under the Grand Lux Café name and one under the RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen name.

The restaurants are characterized by extensive menus, custom décor, and large portions of food. The very first food restaurant was opened in Beverly Hills, California in 1978. This restaurant helps to establish the pattern for all of the other restaurants which is the pattern of offering an eclectic menu, big portions, and signature cheesecakes. Many of the restaurants delicious cheesecakes can be found in Barnes & Noble book stores inside their café’s.

The company operates a bakery facility in Calabasas, California that produces baked deserts and other products for their own restaurants as well as other food service operators, retailers, and distributors.

Job Description/Average Wage

Front Desk Host: The front desk host seats people and greets them with a warm smile. They must make sure that their wait person knows that they have arrived and serves them instantly. The front desk host also takes care of the cash register taking payment from the customer. The average wage is $10.00 an hour.

Server: The Cheesecake Factory server takes the orders from the customers, serves them their food and makes sure that they are satisfied with the selection. They maybe ask to explain some of the items on the menu or prepare a take-out of one of the many delicious food items. The average wage for a server is $6.35 an hour + tips.

Baker: The baker is responsible for making all the delicious desserts fresh. They are in charge of the preparation of desserts and how they are handled. They must make sure that no desserts are served if they are too old. The average wage of a baker for the Cheesecake Factory depends on their years of experience and training. You must apply in person to find out your wage.

Manager / Supervisor: As the supervisor, you’re going to make sure that the store is running the right way, according to the company standard.   You’re going to help open, close, as well as help with assigning tasks within the restaurant.   You’re going to help assist other employees with any other tasks that they need help with such as running the cash register, etc.   The average wage varies anyhwere from $32,000 to $56,000 a year.
