History of Sesame Place

Sesame Place  is Sesame Street  amusement park, located at 100 Sesame Road in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. It was first opened in  1980, the park is operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment and is developed in cooperation with  Children’s Television Workshop  and all the rides, shows and shops are Sesame-themed. At present, the park occupies 16 acres, home to more than 30 rides, shows and attractions.

Over the years, water rides were added to the park, the first being Slippery Slopes.  In 1998 the park opened  Vapor Trail, a  Super Grover-themed roller coaster.  Big Bird’s Balloon Race  and  Grover’s World Twirl, two other dry rides were added in 2002.

Job Descriptions/Wage Averages:

Area Host:  This position has the tasks that include: answering any questions guests have, assist lost children, always maintain a friendly and courteous attitude towards guests; demonstrating excellent quest interaction and “hospitality” skills at all times; zone sweeping, cleaning off tables and removing litter from flower planters; empty trash receptacles when full; clean and dry sinks, mirrors, counters, floors and toilets, floors must be mopped as needed; monitor queue lines at each location in your area, open more as needed and direct quests, conduct area show counts where necessary.

Facility Supervisor: The  Facility Supervisor — Photo Operations  is responsible for: managing in-store promotions and price changes for all assigned locations; setting daily sales goals and coaching team members that are not meeting expectations; conducting daily team member performance tracking by coaching, counseling and documenting daily attendance and performance; enforcing SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment grooming standards; recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance and behavior while adhering to the departments formal review requirements; ensuring all standard operating procedures are followed including cash handling, inventory management, and loss prevention procedures; ensuring team members are providing World Class Service; recognizing / rewarding above standard behavior, coaching / disciplining those not meeting expectations, resolving immediate guest concerns, investigating and providing recommendations to correct reoccurring guest service issues; touring area of responsibility to identify maintenance related items, communicating immediate concerns and following up on completion, ensuring opening/closing procedures are followed; managing controllable expenses including labor, production supplies, and inventory accounts for assigned locations; trouble shooting common photo system equipment failures and partnering with technical services team to reduce system down time; maintaining accurate logs of photo equipment down time; providing team member training; ensuring team member safety. The starting rate for this position is $11.15 / hour.

Cashier Host: This position is responsible to accurately collect monies for tickets sold; properly and accurately charging guests for parking and collecting monies; suggest sell (up-sell) park products, including tickets, seasons passes, lockers, etc.; maintain an excellent level of cleanliness in the work area; conducting zip code surveys; maintain work area cleanliness. The salary rate starts at: $8.05 / hour.

Ride Attendant: Promote excellent guest interaction at all times, provide guests with information regarding the nature of their respective ride as needed. Safely and efficiently operate the rides. Starting Rate: $7.80 / hour.

Customer Service Representative: Answer guests’ questions in a professional and friendly manner. Process phone reservations for group tickets, caterings, private parties, character dinings, amenities, season passes, etc.; conduct inbound and outbound phone sales calls as needed; order Sesame Place Group tickets through SAP and ship them via fedex.com; perform assigned daily tasks and reports needed by management; assist other departments with guest issues, sales transactions, etc. as needed. The salary is $8.25 per hour.

Lifeguard: This person respond to emergencies; communicate concerns to other guards and supervisors on duty; monitor and correct guest behavior in an appropriate manner; ssist with park and restroom cleanliness as designated by supervisors; assist guests with questions and complaints as appropriate; morning prep including picking up trash, wiping down chairs and tables; closing prep including picking up trash, putting away life vests, realigning chairs
