History of Red Lobster

Red Lobster was founded in 1968 by Bill Darden and Charley Woodsby. When they first began the restaurant they dubbed it “Harbor for Seafood Lovers” and the first restaurant was located in Lakeland, Florida. They soon expanded throughout the Southeast becoming well known for their delicious seafood’s and steaks until General Mills acquired the restaurant dubbing it “Red Lobster.”   Soon they had acquired Olive Garden and other sister chains which all became a part of Darden Restaurants.

Red Lobster has locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Japan. The restaurant had a problem of offering promotions and going overboard in what they thought would be ordered. This cost money that would cost the replacement of some of the heads and some of the restaurants would end up having to close because of the financial loss.
