In 1967 in New York City, Dr. Paul Brown launched the clinical laboratory industry with his vision to offer high quality, highly automated and cost-effective clinical testing. The business was named MetPath, for Metropolitan Pathology, and it quickly became the leading independent testing laboratory in the greater New York metropolitan area. Corning Incorporated purchased MetPath in 1982 and continued to build the company. Also in 1994, Corning acquired Nichols Institute, world-renowned for esoteric testing. Job Description/ Wage Averages

Clinical Laboratory Scientist(Molecular Microbiology) : The responsibilities of this person is to Report to Operations Supervisor, Laboratory Supervisor or Laboratory Manager. Under limited supervision incumbent(s) will use their training in medical technology to perform clinical lab testing and/or other scientific examinations. This person is required to work independently, of immediate supervision and assume initiative for distinct and accurate performance of tests with appropriate documentation and proper notification of abnormal results. This position is about to receive a salary of $25 – $35 per hour.

Medical Technologist:   This person is responsible in performing routine and non-routine tasks pertaining to laboratory testing and reporting of results. Furthermore, this person should perform moderately difficult to complex tasks. He should also perform assigned analytical testing procedures in an accurate, precise, and timely manner. This position requires a monthly salary of $39k- $51k.

Senior Programmer Analyst:   The primary duties of this position include; providing technical support., respond to customer requests by designing, developing, testing, documenting and maintaining computer programs. In addition, this person receives, analyze, resolve and respond to customer questions that is necessary form to accomplish his task. This man also maintain appropriate project documentation, develop and keep ongoing relationships with customers. This man is about to receive an annual salary of   $67k-$103k.

Specimen Technician I:   A specimen technician I   is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This position requires a data entry background. He performs tasks that may include but are not limited to A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, and others related into. All functions must be performed with confidence, accuracy and in a timely manner.   This person is receiving a salary rate of $11-$14 per hour.
