Potbelly Sandwich Works is a restaurant chain headquartered in the tower of the Merchandise Mart in the Near North Side, Chicago, Illinois. It started in 1977 by Peter Hastings and the original location was at 2264 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. Potbelly has grown to over 200 stores in several states and the District of Columbia.
Potbelly’s menu provides a variety of sandwiches that are all served hot on regular or multi-grain wheat bread. All sandwiches can be ordered “thin-cut” style, in which one third of the bread is cut out. Potbelly menu also includes soup, shakes, malts, smoothies, and cookies.
Job Description/Wage Averages
Shift Manager: This person is responsible for assisting the management team in the successful operation of the restaurant during his shift. You’re going to also assist with opening up the restaurant and ensuring that the restaurant is ran according to company policy. The hourly rate is in the average of $10 to $13.
Delivery Driver: The position is in charge in delivering the orders of the customers to a certain location in a timely manner; may receive payments and basically, he must ensure that the goods are in excellent quality as it reaches the customers. The hourly rate is at $6 to $10.
Prep Cook: This person has the duties to prepare/cook food for guests; make sure that all equipment, utensils and working areas are maintained for cleanliness; coordinate prep amounts; follow recipe instructions; and ensure safety food handling. The hourly rate is at $7 to $9.
General Manager: This position makes sure that the restaurant operations are efficient and profitable. He/She is to lead the personnel for the attainment of company goals. He/She must to plan, direct and must coordinate a variety of activities of the restaurants. The manager is responsible for the business performance- maintaining high standards of food, service, and health and safety. He/She has to engage in strategic planning, shift pattern organization and supervise day-to-day management activities. The annual salary ranges $45k to 458K.
