This fast food restaurant is located in the Western and Southwestern United States. The founder Carl Karcher started working in the food industry in 1941. He/She began his food stands in Los Angeles, California by 1945 he owned his first stand alone restaurant in Anaheim, California called Carl’s Drive-In Barbecue. The restaurant became well known for its logo the bright yellow five-pointed Happy Star.

The main products that they have to offer their customers are hamburgers, French fries and milkshakes. Their headquarters are located in Carpinteria, California. There are over 300 restaurants in operation today.


Hours of Operation:   24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Job Description/Average Wage

Grill Cook: The grill cook prepares the hamburgers and other items that are prepared on the grill. They must make sure the meat is prepared according to health standards and the request of the customer. It is vital that they keep their grill clean removing excess grease and cleaning it after each shift. The grill cook wage depends on experience and time with the company. In order to find out the exact wage you must apply directly to the company.   This job pays anywhere from $7 to $9 a hour.

Cashier: This position is going to require you to work the front of the restaurant.   You’re going to take the orders, gather the food, as well as ensure that they are happy with their purchase.   If there are any problems, you’re going to report to the main manager or the manager on duty.   This position will pay anywhere from $7 to $9 a hour.

Preparation Crew Member: The preparation crew member is the one who dresses the sandwiches with what the customer orders. They normally put the lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, cheese, and other condiments on the bun. In most cases the sandwich is dress on the bottom of the top of the bun. The wage that a preparation crew member earns depends on the area that they are working in. The wages are within the range of the area that they live. You must check with the restaurant that you are working for in order to find out the wage.     This job pays anywhere from $7 to $9 a hour.

Managers: Managers are in charge of the fast food drive-in every mode of operation. They must take care of the employees, customers, food ordering and preparation, along with any situation that might arise from operating a restaurant. Usually each restaurant has two managers and one crew leader to help with the operation. The wage is based on their experience and education and is discussed at the time of hiring.   This job pays anywhere from $9 to $15 a hour.
