Job Description/Wage Averages
Restaurant General Manager: The general manager of the restaurant must ensure that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably and that the staff is working for the attainment of company goals. He/She must be engaged in planning and coordinating various activities of the restaurants. The manager is responsible for the business performance of their restaurant, maintaining high standards of food, service, and health and safety. The average wage for this position starts at $13+ per hour.
Server: The servers deal with the guests to serve the needs or orders of the guests; provide guests with a clean, comfortable environment for their dining experience; and should ensure that every guest is thanked and invited to return. The average wage for this position starts at $3+ per hour plus various tips.
Dishwasher: This person is responsible for making all dishes, glasses, utensils and equipment clean, sanitized and stored properly. He/She has to also maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen area and the storage trays and cabinets for the dishes and other kitchen equipment. The average wage for this position starts at $8+ per hour.
Host/Hostess: This person will be coordinating and supervising the activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to guests; scheduling and arranging of dining reservations; responding to complaints; inspecting dining room serving stations to ensure neatness and cleanliness; hiring, training and discharging dining room personnel. The average wage for this position starts at $8+ per hour.
