History of BJ’s Restaurant

It was in 1978 when the first BJ’s was opened in Santa Ana, California. From then, it has grown to several locations – BJ’s restaurants were opened in beach cities along Southern California’s coastline; seven restaurants in operation from San Diego to Los Angeles, the first BJ’s brewery began production in our new restaurant in Brea, California; BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery concept was launched; menu items and new beers have been added through the years as the BJ’s brand has expanded across the U.S.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Line Cook: The line cook is in charge of the restaurant line or in the station he is assigned. He/She will set up the work station, prepare items for service, clean the station and may also perform general duties like cleaning kitchen equipment, organize produce delivery, and perform complete inventory.

Dishwasher: This person is responsible making sure that all dishes, glasses, utensils and equipment are cleaned, sanitized and stored to maintain cleanliness.

Prep Cook: This person has the responsibilities to prepare food for guests; ensure that all equipment, utensils and working areas are maintained for cleanliness; coordinate prep amounts with managers, follow recipe instructions, and ensure safe food handling guidelines.

Host/Hostess: This position will be coordinating and supervising the activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to guests; scheduling of dining reservations; providing menus for the guests; responding to complaints; ensure neatness and cleanliness of the dining room; hiring, training and discharging dining room personnel.

Food and Beverage Server: This position has the responsibilities of requesting or taking orders from and serve food and beverages to guests; making sure on guest satisfaction and handling the payment and responding to complaints/concerns of customers. He/She must have the knowledge of service techniques, food and beverage product and practices of responsible alcohol service.
