History of Shoney’s

Shoney’s is a popular restaurant food chain that is located primarily in the southern United States.  It once was adjoined with the Big Boy chain.  While most Shoney’s are franchised owned, you find that the headquarters are located in Nashville, Tennessee.  While they used to operate more than 1,000 chains, they number has dwindled a little bit.

Job Descriptions / Average Wage

Waitress / Waiter / Host: You will usually do both jobs, where you will help seat guests, refill drinks, as well as order their food.  You will ensure that the customer is happy with their experience, and you will help them with whatever issues that they need.  The average wage is anywhere from $2 to $5 a hour, plus tips.

Cook: You will be in charge of cooking food in the back.  You will process orders, as well as re-cook orders that come back to the kitchen if it isn’t cooked properly.  You will prep the kitchen, as well as clean in your downtime.  The average wage is $7 to $10 a hour.

Dishwasher: You will help clean tables, as well as clean dishes. You will also assist the cooks, if they need help with anything.  You will clean the kitchen, as well as make sure as the lobby is clean.  You may clean the bathrooms, as well as perform other duties.  Your average wage will be $7 to $9 a hour.

Greeter:  As a greeter or host, you’re going to greet customers that come into the restaurant.  You’re going to seat them as well as make sure that they have all of their concerns answered.  Depending on the restaurant, you may also be asked to run the cash register as people leave the restaurant to pay their bill.  The average wage is $7 to $9 a hour.

Buffet Coordinator:  The sole responsibility of the buffet coordinator is to ensure that the buffet is clean, the food is up to par as well as make sure that the customers are happy with their food selection.  If any food runs low, it will be your responsibility to go to the kitchen to refill the stock.  The average wage is anywhere from $7 to $9 a hour.
