History of Schnucks

Schnucks is one of the largest privately held grocery store chains in the midwest United States.   Their headquarters are currently located in St. Louis, MO.  In 1939, the company was formed, and today they have over 100 stores.  They are located throughout 7 states to be exact.

Edwin and Anna Schnuck, as well as their sons founded the market.  You can find stores throughout states such as Indian, Mississippi, as well as Iowa.  As they continue to expand, they have bought out companies such as Loblaws and Seessel’s.

Job Description / Average Wage

Deli Clerk: You’re going to be in charge of prepping food, stocking food, as well as ensuring that the deli stays cleaned.  You will also assist customers with their order both in store, as well as over the phone.  Your average wage will be between $8 and $13 a hour.

Cashier / Checker: You will run a cash register up front.  You will assist customers with their purchases, as well as assist them with their order.  You will follow company policy with coupons, etc.  In your downtime, you may be asked to do odds and end jobs.  The average pay is $7 to $10 a hour.

Deli Clerk: A deli clerk is going to work the deli counter where he/she is going to prep food, prepare it, as well as stock it according to the company policy.  You’re going to help assist customers with any orders that they want to place, as well as help with pre-orders that come into the store itself.  You’re going to help with weighing food, cleaning the area, as well as assisting with opening and closing the deli.  The average wage is $7 to $12 a hour.

Bagger: You’re going to be in charge of bagging groceries, as well as grabbing carts outside in the parking lot.  You will also assist customers to the car, if they need help with their order.  You will also help clean the store, and more.  Your average wage will be around $7 to $9 a hour.
