History of Rite Aid

The founder of Rite Aid Alexander Grass began the stores in Scranton, Pennsylvania as Thrif D Discount Center. The very first store opened up September 1962 and after several years of growth it got its surname Rite Aid and became one of the fortune 500 companies. Today Rite Aid is one of the leading chain drugstore chains in the United States operating over 4,900 stores in thirty-one states and the District of Columbia.  Rite Aid employs over 109,000 associates giving them many benefits and competitive wages.

Job description/ Average wage

Store Manager: The store manager is responsible for the whole operation of his shop including the pharmacy. The store manager must make sure that the store is kept clean and run efficiently. He/She must make sure that every department is well stocked, proper amount of employee’s, and that customers are taken proper care. The average wage for a store manager is $47,024 which depends on their experience and education.

Cashier: The cashier is responsible for their cash station making sure that the drawer stays in balance both at the start and end of their shift. They must count down the cash drawer and take a reading of the sales so that when they close they can again take a reading, subtract the sales made, count down the cash, which will help them to know their balance. The Cashier is responsible for being friendly and helpful to all customers. They should know the store contents in able to help customers find everything that they might be looking for or direct them to the right departments. The average wage for a cashier starts at $7.00 an hour and they can earn upward to $10.00 an hour.

Pharmacist: The Pharmacist can sign up for the hourly wage program or work as a staff Pharmacist for a salary. In both cases the Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications to the customer in accordance with prescriptions that they receive from a medical physician. The Pharmacist is responsible to explain to the customer how to properly take the medications, and what to expect in case they get an allergic reaction towards the drug. The Pharmacist also keeps records of all the medications that a patient is taking and if they see that one medication can react in a bad way with another medication they are to contact the prescribing doctor (s) before dispensing the drugs. Normally the hourly Pharmacist wage starts at $51.30 while the Pharmacist on staff earns a salary of 112,782 for the year.
