Ralphs Grocery Company was founded back in 1873.   Today, their headquarters are located in Compton, California.   Ralphs is a subsidiary of the major grocery chain, Kroger.   They also go by the names Food-4-Less, as well as FoodsCo.

Started in L.A. by George A. Ralph, the company today employs hundreds of employees on the west coast of the United States.   In 1998, they merged with the Kroger Company.   You will mainly find these grocery stores in the state of California.

Job Description / Average Wage

Clerk: You will help stock shelves, work in the back room with stock, as well as make sure the entire grocery store is remaining clean.   While stocking, you will assist customers with any questions, or concerns that they may have.   The average wage is around $8 to $12 a hour.

Customer Service / Courtesy Clerk: You’re going to help assist customers that come into the front counter to get help with items such as returns, questions or even help with various services such as money orders, lottery tickets and more.   You will also help with categorizing items that come back to be returned.   The average wage is $8 to $12 a hour.

Head Clerk: As a head clerk, you will watch over the clerks on your shift.   You will answer to the main manager of the store, as well as assist with other managerial duties.   You will help with scheduling, as well as assigning tasks and more.   Your average wage will be around $12 to $25 a hour.

Cashier: You will work in the front of the store.   You will ring up customers, bag their groceries, as well as accept coupons, and answer questions that they may have.   You will also help clean the front of the store in your down time.   The average wage for this position is $8 to $13 a hour.

General Merchandise: The general merchandise clerk is going to work the main floor.   You’re going to help with stocking, ensuring that the customer is happy, as well as ensure that the floor is clean in the area.   You will also help with cleaning, organizing and making sure that the department is cleaned according to the company standard.   The average wage is $8 to $11 a hour.

Interview Tips

If you are one of the lucky applicants who will be scheduled for an interview, make sure to be well dressed and come in the venue a couple of minutes ahead. You should also prepare before the interview by studying about the products and the kind of services that Ralphs offers.       I worked for Ralph’s Calabasas for 3 years. It is was a good store. I had some issues but I got over them. I would like to work for my store again.. I remember the produce codes :D.
