Popeyes Chicken & Biscuit is sometimes named Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen or Popeyes Chicken & Seafood was originally founded in Arabi, Louisiana in June 12, 1973. Al Copeland owned the restaurant and served the â€œtraditional mild fried chickenâ€ but the chicken fryers soon realized that they needed to spice up the chicken to suit flavor-seeking New Orleanians.
Copeland began franchising in 1976 when a new restaurant opened up in 1976 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.Â People at first thought that the restaurant was named after the famed Popeye cartoon but it was soon discovered that Copeland named the restaurant after the famed detective Jimmy â€œPopeyeâ€ Doyle in the movie French Connection.
Job Description/Average Wage
Crew Member: The crew member helps to wait on the customers, prepare foods, or clean up while working their shift. They are expected to take the orders at the counter and pass them back to one of the crew members who is preparing the famous Popeyes foods and then bag it up and serve it to the customer. The average wage starts at $7.00 an hour.
Cashier: The cashier usually takes the money for the orders after they have been placed by the customer. Many times they take the order and pass it on to a crew member who may prepare the food and give it to a front end crew member to bag up. The cashier charges the customer and gives them the change or process the credit card for the sale. The average wage for a cashier is $7.00 an hour to start.
Shift Manager: The shift manager is responsible for all crew members, make sure the shift runs smoothly, and makes sure that the cash drawer stays in balance. They also take care of any customer complaints. The average wage for a shift manager is $7.00 an hour to start.
