History of Panda Express

Panda Express is a fast casual restaurant chain serving American Chinese foods. The restaurant chain operates inside the United States, in casinos, shopping malls, supermarkets, airports, train stations, strip plazas, theme parks, stadiums, college campuses and The Pentagon. Panda Express is the largest fast food chain of Chinese foods in the United States.

Panda Express has 1279 restaurants covering 37 states and Puerto Rico.  The headquarters for Panda Express is headquartered in Rosemead, California. The restaurant chain was founded by Andrew and Peggy Cherng and Andrew’s father, Master Chef Ming Tsai Cherng. The family all lived in Yangzhou region China’s Jiangsu province. They were able to start their first Panda Express Restaurant in 1973 in Pasadena, California.

Job Description/Average Wage

Server: The server takes the orders from the customers and helps to get them into their seating arrangements. The server may take the order over the phone and prepare a package of to-go foods for pick-up. The server may need to explain some of the cuisines that are being served or perhaps let the customers know the daily specials. The average wage is $8.00 an hour.

Lead: As a lead, you’re going to be in charge of running the front of the restaurant.  You’re going to help assign tasks, as well as making sure everything is running smoothly.  If anything is wrong, you’re going to have the final decision if the main manager isn’t present.  You will also answer to the general manager with any issues that you may have.  The average wage for this position is anywhere from $8 to $11 a hour.

General Manager: The general manager is in charge of operations for their unit making sure that everything runs smoothly. They take care of the employee’s and customers. They must do payroll, cash, inventory and many other duties involved with restaurant management. The average wage is $42k a year.

Area Coach: The area coach usually works several restaurants teaching the management and their team how to set up the restaurant and do operations. They are in charge of making sure that the restaurants are all being handled in the same way. Every Panda Express must look alike, serve foods that all taste the same, and treat all their customers with the greatest respect. The average wage for a coach is $60k a year.

General Manager: You’re going to supervise all the company’s operations with different locations that entail each general manager be take the responsibility for a portion of the whole area. You will plan, manage and organize multiple areas of your operating portion. You will also ensure that the operations run proficiently and adhere to the set policy. The average wage for this job is $45,322 yearly.

Restaurant Manager: You will supervise the operation inside the kitchen and in the restaurant or dining area. You have to make certain that every procedure and service delivered is in accordance to the company’s standards and guidelines. You will also manage the working relationship of other employees to their colleagues and customers and keep up the quality service in the restaurant. The average wage for this job is $40,875 a year.

District Manager: You’re going to direct all activities within the company that are required to accomplish district goals which includes profit and sales objectives, client service, payroll and operating expenses, human capital investment and retention, loss prevention, and merchandise presentation. The average wage for this job is $61,139 per year.

Assistant Manager: You will provide supervisory support to the everyday administration of company’s operations and such as hiring and firing of individuals, creating work schedules and completing sales transactions. The average wage for this job is $12.54 per hour.

Cashier: You’re going to sustain excellent customer service in accordance to the company’s standards. You are responsible in appropriately and efficiently process sales as well as to protect the assets of this organization. You will make sure that each customer receives an outstanding service by providing them a welcoming and warm atmosphere by having enough knowledge on the products and services being offered. The average wage for this job is $9 an hour.
