History of Fred Meyer Stores

Founded back in 1922 in Portland, Oregon, today the Fred Meyer stores are apart of the Kroger stores nationwide.  Today, they are known more like a department store, where they have toys, garden items, grocery items and so much more.  It’s a place where you can find just about anything at a low price.  The average store, depending on the size can employ over 300 employees.

Job Descriptions / Average Wage

Grocery Clerk: A grocery clerk is going to work on the main grocery floor.  You’re going to help stock shelves, help assist customers, as well as making sure that the floor in cleaned.  You will also help in the backroom with organizing and more.  The average pay is anywhere from $8 to $19 a hour.

Customer Service: You’re going to work the customer service desk, where you’re going to accept returns, help with the lottery tickets, as well as make sure that the customer is happy with any issues that they have.  You will also do other odds and end jobs in your downtime.  The average pay is $8 to $13 a hour.

Cashier: You will work in the front of the store.  You’re going to run the cash register, accept coupons, as well as make sure that the customer has all of their problems resolved.  If there is a problem with the order, you will consult with a manager.  A cashier makes anywhere from $9 to $12 a hour.

Deli Clerk: The deli clerk is going to work the deli where you’re going to help with preparing the foods, the salads, chickens and more.  You’re going to also help the customers with any orders that they want to place.  You’re going to cut the meat, handle salads and so much more.  You’re going to help open the deli, close it, as well as ensure that the deli remains clean.  The average wage is anyhwere from $9 to $12 a hour.

Supervisor: You’re going to be in charge of watching an entire shift.  You’re going to help assign tasks, as well as ensure that the whole department is running according to the company standard.  If there are any problems that arise, you’re going to want to assist and consult with the main manager.  The average wage starts at $10 to $15 a hour.
