Job Description / Average Wage

Desk Clerk: As a desk clerk, you will assist guests when they enter the hotel.  You will help them with reservations, explain hotel policy, as well as assist them with any questions that they may have.  You will also answer phones, as well as assist future guests with reservations, and more.  The average wage is $7 to $9 a hour.

Maid  / Housekeeping: You will be in charge of maintaining / cleaning rooms, based on your room schedules.  You will clean / change sheets, vacuum, dust, as well as restock items in the bathroom.  You will also assist guests with any items that they may need.  In your down time, you will clean the lobby, wash linens, as well as clean the exterior of the parking lot.  The average wage is $8+ a hour.

Maintenance:  Working in maintenance, you’re going to be assisting with many various problems such as leaky faucets, toilet issues as well as electrical problems.  You’re going to make sure that all rooms in the hotel are according to code.  When a problem does arise with a guest, you will have to fix it within a few hours.  The average wage for a maintenance person starts at $9+ a hour.

Shift Supervisor:  As a shift supervisor, you’re going to be watching over an entire shift when the main manager isn’t on duty.  You’re going to assist customers with problems, checking in, answering the phone as well as making sure that the employees are doing their jobs.  If any problems do come up, you’re going to want to report them to the main manager.  The average wage for the shift supervisor will start at $9+ a hour.
