History of Chevron

Founded in 1879, Chevron is active in more than 180 countries worldwide, making it one of the biggest oil companies in the United States.   Originally known as the Standard Oil of California, they have merged with various companies to become what they have become today.

As of 2009, they have over 65,000 employees that are located worldwide.  These employees work in various locations, including the local gas stations, as well as corporate headquarters.   Their headquarters are located in San Ramon, California.

Job Description / Average Wage

Team Member: You will be responsible for stocking shelves in the gas station, running the cash register, as well as making sure that the gas station remains clean.  You will refill the coffee pots, as well as make sure all the food is being cooked to perfection.  Your average wage will be around $7-$10 a hour.

Shift Manager: You will be responsible for running a shift, and watching over all of the employees.  You will assign tasks, as well as file and do any necessary paperwork.  You will also have to open and close the gas station, if it isn’t opened 24 hours.  Your average wage will be between $8 and $13 a hour.

Maintenance / Janitorial: This job may require that you move from location to location.  You’re going to help with cleaning, fixing items such as light fixtures and more.  You’re going to generally be on call with any options that need to be done at the gas station itself.  Generally, you’re going to answer to the district manager on call.  This job is going to pay anywhere from $9 to $14 a hour.

Gas Station Manager: As a manager of the store, you’re going to be in charge of running the whole gas station.  You’re going to be in charge of making sure that the store is running at 100%.  You’re going to help with hiring, firing, as well as running payroll and other various managerial activities.  You’re going to also assist with many various paperwork duties as well.  The store manager is going to be able to make anywhere from $15 to $24 a hour.
